-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 =pod I was recently reading L, and came across a link to L. Basically, this is how Perl-related articles usually turn out on Reddit. Someone posts an article that says something good about Perl, and then the commenters ignore the article and rant about whatever they didn't like about Perl fifteen years ago. It's easy to get upset and provide a point-by-point rebuttal to correct the obviously incorrect "facts" that the commenters are so sure about. People do this, and then the replies are along the lines of "suck my cock." Because of L, I stopped reading Reddit months ago, and I think you should too. It is a waste of time to say the same thing over and over again. We already know you know why Perl is good. Anyone that wants objective information about Perl can find it. The people on Reddit don't care about facts, there are just there to feel good about their ignorance, somewhat like L L. (God hates Perl programmers!) They like to hear themselves talk, but they don't actually have anything to say. These people are not programmers. They haven't ever written a computer program, and they have only studied them in passing. It is not worth engaging them; they have nothing to add, and they will waste your time and patience. Just say no! If you really want to advocate Perl or good programming practices in general, your best bet is to write some code and share your knowlege on your own web site. The people that find you writing will actually care enough to think about it and provide you with useful feedback, and the people that are just trying to find some excuse to not work will never see it. You will save yourself a lot of frustration this way, trust me. Enjoy programming first, worry about other people later. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAko3mPcACgkQ2rw+dVvzZm2HegCfUuPBxOw2HXHzEZggtE3GbO+j 4ssAniMEyAyNvwohtDmSemkLJhGdKRCz =wyjC -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
